GLOBAL BIOENERGIES: Completion of the basic engineering phase of the Leuna Demo Plant

Leuna, March 18th, 2015 - Global Bioenergies and The Linde Group today announce the completion of the basic engineering phase of Global Bioenergies' demo plant.

In February 2014, Global Bioenergies entrusted the Engineering Division of technology company The Linde Group with the mission to deliver the basic engineering study upstream of the construction of its demonstration plant. Today, the two companies are glad to announce that this phase has now been completed successfully.

Markus Wolperdinger, Vice President Biotechnology Plants at Linde's Engineering Division said: "We are proud to deliver to Global Bioenergies a complete basic engineering package for its process to convert sugars into isobutene, a gaseous hydrocarbon. This one-of-a-kind demo plant will be an important milestone on the way to the commercialization of Global Bioenergies' innovative biotechnological processes".

Rick Bockrath, VP chemical engineering at Global Bioenergies, added: "We are now ready to move on to the next phase of the project, dedicated to the construction and exploitation of the demo plant."

The demo plant, expected to be installed in the Fraunhofer CBP building at the Leuna complex, is associated with a EUR 5.7m grant from the German Federal Ministry of Research (BMBF).

About GLOBAL BIOENERGIES

Global Bioenergies is one of the few companies worldwide, and the only one in Europe, that is developing a process to convert renewable resources into hydrocarbons through fermentation. The Company initially focused its efforts on the production of isobutene, one of the most important petrochemical building blocks that can be converted into fuels, plastics, organic glass and elastomers. Global Bioenergies continues to improve the yield of its process and recently announced success with first testing in its industrial pilot. The company also replicated its achievement to propylene and butadiene two members of the gaseous olefins family, key molecules at the heart of petrochemical industry. Global Bioenergies is listed on Alternext, Euronext Paris (FR0011052257 - ALGBE).
