Oren Cass Joins The Manhattan Institute

Former domestic policy director for Romney's 2012 campaign now an MI senior fellow

NEW YORK, April 1, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- The Manhattan Institute is pleased to announce that Oren Cass has joined MI as a senior fellow. Cass previously served as the domestic policy director of Mitt Romney's 2012 presidential campaign and a management consultant for Bain & Company.

During the Romney campaign, he shaped campaign policy and communications on health care, energy, trade, and beyond. He developed the campaign's 150-page policy book and regularly spoke on behalf of the campaign. More recently, he developed the anti-poverty reforms proposed by Senator Marco Rubio last year.

In his new role at the Manhattan Institute, Cass will focus primarily on energy, the environment, and anti-poverty policy. He said, "I am thrilled to have this opportunity. The Manhattan Institute has always been at the forefront of developing concrete, market-oriented, and effective policy solutions. I hope I can contribute to that tradition."

Manhattan Institute President Lawrence Mone said, "Oren is one of the most brilliant young policy minds in America today. He has expertise in an incredibly wide breadth of policy areas and we are very excited to have him aboard."

Cass holds a B.A. in Political Economy from Williams College and a J.D. from Harvard University, where he was editor and vice president of the Harvard Law Review.
