DES MOINES, Iowa, and HILLSDALE, Mich., April 22, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Two popular track and field meets taking place this week are being held on Super X Performance tracks.

The first competition, the 2015 Drake Relays presented by Hy-Vee, runs now through April 26 at Drake Stadium on the campus of Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa. The 106th annual contest brings some of the world's top athletes together for this much-anticipated event.

The second meet, the 9th Annual Hillsdale College Gina Relays, is April 23-25. More than 1,000 athletes will descend upon the Ken Herrick Outdoor Track on the college's campus in Hillsdale, Michigan, for one of the great annual events on the college's athletic calendar.

Both schools have Super X Performance surfaces made by Mondo, the global leader in the track and field, indoor sport and contract flooring markets.

The world's top track for more than 30 years, Mondo's renowned Super X Performance track is recognized around the world as one of the fastest, most durable and environmentally safest tracks available. An official track of eight Olympic Games through 2004 and the competition surface from 1992 to 2004 (the company's Mondotrack was the competition surface of the 2008 Beijing and 2012 London Olympics), Super X Performance was designed to provide consistent performance throughout its life. Ideal for both training and high-performance competition, the track is known for its shock absorption and optimal energy return, and its ideal blend of speed and comfort minimizes the occurrence of injuries.

Designed for superior athletic performance, Mondotrack provides optimal traction and a greater contact area than other tracks. Building on the success of the company's renowned Super X Performance track, Mondotrack converts the maximum amount of force generated by athletes' foot strikes to energy for maximum energy return, which helps athletes achieve faster times compared to running on other surfaces.

More than 250 world records have been set on tracks made by Mondo.
