About Pancreatic Cancer

According to the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network, pancreatic cancer is currently the fourth-leading cause of cancer-related deaths in the United States, and it is anticipated to become the second by 2020.  It is one of the deadliest cancers, with a five-year survival rate that is just seven percent. In 2015, it is estimated that nearly 49,000 Americans will be diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and approximately 40,500 will die from the disease. Surgical removal of the tumor is possible in only approximately 15 percent of patients with adenocarcinoma, the most common type of pancreatic cancer.
