Window World Celebrates Successful MerleFest Sponsorship

NORTH WILKESBORO, N.C., April 27, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Window World®, America's largest replacement window and exterior remodeling company, was the presenting sponsor of MerleFest, one of the premier music festivals in the country, this past weekend. Given their shared location of Wilkes County, the partnership was a celebration of hometown roots and local traditions.

An annual homecoming of musicians and music fans, hosted by the Wilkes Community College (WCC) Endowment Corporation, MerleFest was attended by over 78,000 national and international attendees over four days. Many renowned performers contributed to the festival's success, including The Avett Brothers, Dwight Yoakam, Steep Canyon Rangers, The Marshall Tucker Band, Lee Ann Womack, Béla Fleck & Abigail Washburn, the Earls of Leicester and Sam Bush.

MerleFest's mission of creating Music, Moments and Memories begets a unique blend of traditional, bluegrass and old-time music, Americana, blues and country, with a significant emphasis on giving back to the community. In that spirit, MerleFest artists gave performances for nearly 7,000 children from local schools as part of an outreach program on Thursday. In addition, on Friday morning more than 3,000 school children from Wilkes and surrounding counties attended the festival.

"We at MerleFest were so proud to have our new presenting sponsor and local neighbor, Window World, at this year's festival.  The Window World team arrived with some pretty impressive products and displays.  It was great to see the employees of Window World dressed in bright blue shirts all across the festival grounds.  Their enthusiasm and excitement to be here was contagious," said Ted Hagaman, MerleFest festival director.

MerleFest is one of the many nonprofit partnerships Window World supports. To date, Window World's charitable foundation, Window World Cares®, has donated nearly $5 million to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital® in the fight against childhood cancer and other life-threatening diseases. Additionally, Window World, Inc., along with store locations nationwide, support the Veterans Airlift Command by sponsoring over 80 missions, totaling more than $1 million in donations and in-kind contributions.
