TUCSON, Ariz., April 28, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Peak Load Management Alliance (PLMA) Spring Conference – Comverge Inc., the leading provider of demand management solutions for electric utilities, is proud to announce that both Comverge and its client Pepco Holdings, Inc. (PHI) were recognized at the 12th Annual PLMA Awards.

Comverge was recognized in the Thought Leader category for its eBook authored by Howard Ng, vice president, technical sales, Comverge, entitled "The Evolution of Communications for Demand Response." The eBook evaluated the different communication technologies used for demand response programs, detailing the strengths and weaknesses of each to help electric utilities determine which approach may be the best fit. The PLMA Thought Leader Award seeks to recognize the impact of projects, outreach campaigns and individual contributions that have the potential to shape the industry's future. The second edition of the eBook was recently released and you can download a copy of it at http://www2.comverge.com/eBook.

"Comverge is the clear market leader for residential demand response and we are using our deep industry expertise to help start meaningful industry conversations about important topics such as communications technology. We are honored to be recognized for our efforts in this area," said Gregory J. Dukat, Comverge chairman, president and CEO.

PHI was recognized in the Program Pacesetter category for its Energy Wise Rewards and Peak Energy Savings Credit demand management programs. This award category recognizes outstanding programs that effectively support and deliver peak load management.

One of the largest energy delivery companies in the Mid-Atlantic region, PHI serves approximately two million customers through its subsidiaries: Pepco, Delmarva Power & Light, and Atlantic City Electric. PHI selected Comverge in 2009 to implement a demand response program that would enhance the customer experience and enable it to meet energy savings goals. Key elements of this program, called Energy Wise Rewards, include customer choice in load control devices; multiple curtail cycling levels; Web-programmability in the thermostats to improve customer convenience and satisfaction; and upgradable devices. To date, the company has enrolled more than 340,000 participants, installed more than 400,000 devices and paid out more than $50 million in customer incentives. The Energy Wise Rewards program also received the 2015 Smart Grid Consumer Collaborative CLEAR Customer Education Award and the 2014 POWERGRID International Project of the Year Award.

Continued Dukat, "We deeply value our partnership with Pepco Holdings, Inc. and are excited that the impressive success they've achieved with the Energy Wise Rewards demand response program and their many other energy management programs continues to be acknowledged."
