Power Solutions International Showcases New LP Concept Vehicle at ACT Expo

New Medium-Duty Prototype Jointly Developed With Navistar

WOOD DALE, Ill., May 6, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Power Solutions International, Inc. (Nasdaq:PSIX), the global alternative-fuel engine company, will present a new propane-fueled (LP) concept vehicle along with other alternative-fuel products at the 2015 Alternative Clean Transportation "ACT" Expo, the world's largest clean fleet event.

"We're very excited about the opportunity to showcase the growth of our on-highway products at this year's ACT Expo," said Gary Winemaster, PSI's Chairman and Chief Executive Officer. "We've come a long way from the beginning of this program a few years ago to partnering today with market leaders like Navistar."

PSI is jointly developing the new LP concept vehicle with Navistar International Corp., leveraging off of the success of the new propane-fueled IC Bus that both companies developed for launch this year. According to Navistar, the IC CE Series LP Bus is the first school bus specifically engineered to run on propane without sacrificing power, performance or durability. The new bus goes into service beginning with the 2015/2016 school year.

The two companies are applying the knowledge from that project—along with the same PSI 8.8-liter LP engine—and adapting it for the medium-duty truck market. Navistar expects the new vehicle to join its Durastar product line, providing a LP truck capable of serving a wide range of vehicle applications, including beverage and goods delivery, propane bobtails, landscape, tree care, and utility.

PSI is also displaying a fully integrated, finished product: a Class 7 LP vehicle developed with Alkane Truck Company of South Carolina, the first project from the two companies to hit the market. The medium-duty truck, suitable for a wide range of applications including delivery, industrial and emergency vehicles, is equipped with PSI's 8.8-liter LP engine.

PSI is spotlighting two full powertrain solutions at ACT: its 8.8-liter system and a 6.0-liter system employing a GM engine block. The 8.8-liter engine achieved EPA and CARB emission certifications for both LP and CNG versions in 2014.

PSI's recent acquisition, the on-highway engine manufacturer Powertrain Integration, will be represented at ACT with new products displayed at the Freightliner booth, number 705.

PSI presents its new products at booth number 419 at the ACT Expo at the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center in Dallas, Texas from May 4–7.
