GIVE YOUR KIDS THE GIFT OF A FUN FINANCIAL EDUCATION THIS SUMMER

Junior Achievement Offices across the Country Offer Camps Aimed at Teaching Kids How to Budget and Save Money through Hands-On Experiences

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo., May 12, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Junior Achievement USA® (JA) will be offering exciting new learning opportunities for young people around the country this summer. As parents anxiously search for summer camps that are engaging and educational for their kids, Junior Achievement has stepped in with a solution that both kids and parents are sure to love: financial literacy summer camps!

JA's financial literacy summer camps are innovative, enriching experiences designed to teach young people personal financial literacy skills. The programs build on what students learn during the school year and allow them to learn through real-world experiences how to save money, create and stick to a budget, and why credit is important.

"Junior Achievement is thrilled to provide opportunities like these summer camps for young people across the United States," said Junior Achievement USA President and CEO Jack E. Kosakowski. "We hope the students learn something that will have relevance in their lives. But most importantly—we want them to have fun."

According to a March 2015 survey conducted by Junior Achievement USA and The Allstate Foundation, almost a third of teens (32 percent) say their parents don't spend enough time talking to them about managing money. Frequently parents don't have the time, resources and tools to have financial conversations with their kids—which is why Junior Achievement's summer camps focus on giving young people a sound financial education and empower them to own their economic success.

While each JA Area's camp is run differently and is localized to the specific community, some of the common themes in these financial literacy camps include:

• Career exploration
• Working on their personal finances including creating and managing a budget
• Running a business/entrepreneurial adventures
• Importance of being involved in the community
