Adventure Lodges of Georgia to Debut June 19

Amicalola Falls and Unicoi State Parks Introduce Adventure Programs

DAWSONVILLE Ga. and HELEN, Ga., May 27, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Residents of the Southeast have more options than ever to enjoy the natural beauty of the North Georgia Mountains this summer with the introduction of Georgia's first adventure lodge experiences at Amicalola Falls State Park and Unicoi State Park on June 19, announced Heath Carter, Regional Vice President, Sales and Marketing for Coral Hospitality.

"Adventure programs offer a unique and exciting way to explore Georgia's state parks, and are designed for visitors with a wide range of fitness levels, interests and ages," said Mr. Carter. "Generally adventure lodges are situated in remote locales with dramatic scenery, offer activities requiring a high level of athletic ability and can come with a big price tag. We've taken the concept and transformed it for broader accessibility and affordability."

Both Amicalola Falls and Unicoi offer treetop zip lines, GPS scavenger hunts, 3-D archery and climbing walls; and both facilities will be designated GoPro Parks, with classes and a rental program enabling guests to make an entertaining record of their day using the action camera mounted on a bike, kayak or helmet. Amicalola Falls also presents guided hikes of the falls and guided fitness trail runs; survivalist camping; and the birds of prey experience, a close look at falcons, owls and hawks taught by an expert handler. Unicoi adds lessons in fly fishing, paddle boarding, kayak fishing; an introduction to mountain biking; and primitive camping under the stars.

"The activities are designed to make participation easy so visitors can try a number of different adventures. For example, guests taking fly fishing classes at Unicoi have the use of fishing equipment," said Mr. Carter.

Adventure activities are available to all park visitors, subject to availability. Each adventure is priced separately and includes guided leadership and equipment.

However, to experience the North Georgia Mountains to the fullest, guests will enjoy staying overnight in the parks' newly-renovated lodges, featuring redesigned lobbies with new furnishings, and refreshed guestrooms and cabins. Guests at Amicalola Falls may relax on a new rocking chair porch with panoramic vistas, or enjoy impressive mountain views from the observation deck outside the Maple Restaurant. At Unicoi and Amicalola Falls, families with children will enjoy fire pit stories, narrated by storytellers and accompanied with s'mores.
