Larada Sciences Files Complaint of Patent Infringement

Picky Pam at the Beach, Nitless Noggins and XPOWER Manufacture named as defendants


SALT LAKE CITY, June 10, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Plaintiffs Larada Sciences, Inc. and University of Utah Research Foundation, as the patent owner and licensor, filed a complaint in the U.S. District Court in Salt Lake City alleging patent infringement by Picky Pam at the Beach, LLC, UKU, Inc. d/b/a Nitless Noggins Headlice Treatment Center, and XPOWER Manufacture, Inc.

The complaint (civil action number 2:15-cv-00399-CW) alleges that the defendants willfully infringed U.S. patent numbers 7,789,902 and 8,162,999.

The patents describe a method for eradicating ectoparasites by applying heated air at a specific temperature, airflow and duration to an infested area.

The University of Utah Research Foundation owns the patents and has licensed exclusive rights to those patents to Larada Sciences.

Larada Sciences is dedicated to the eradication of head lice. Larada developed and markets AirAllé, an FDA-cleared medical device that kills head lice and eggs using just heated air. The AirAllé device is used in 75 U.S locations of Lice Clinics of America (LiceClinicsOfAmerica.com), the largest network of professional head-lice-treatment centers in the United States. Lice Clinics of America and AirAllé are brands owned by Larada Sciences, Inc.
