Comverge Japan Starts Automated Demand Response Feasibility Study With KEPCO and MID-FM

TOKYO and NORCROSS, Ga., June 17, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Comverge Inc., the leading provider of demand management solutions for electric utilities, today announced it has been selected by Japan's Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) to participate in its Negawatt Feasibility Study to assess the potential of demand response in Japan. Joining Comverge on the project will be Kansai Electric Power Company (KEPCO), the second largest integrated power company in Japan, and MID Facility Management (MID-FM), a facility management service provider and a KEPCO group company. The three companies will work together to assess the feasibility of demand response for the Japan market.

Under the leadership of KEPCO, MID-FM will bring its expertise of facility management and Comverge will bring its years of experience delivering world-class demand response programs. The program will use Comverge's IntelliSOURCE, an enterprise-class software platform that automates every aspect of sophisticated demand management programs, and IntelliPEAK load control switches to control HVAC units on commercial and industrial buildings. The program will comply with the OpenADR2.0b protocol standard for automated demand response.

"We are very excited Comverge was selected to provide the technology foundation for this pioneering automated demand response program," commented Hideki Furukawa, Director of Business Development, Comverge Japan. "Demand response programs have proven time and time again to create a more reliable electric grid and drive down energy costs for customers. We look forward to working with KEPCO and MID-FM to demonstrate how our program can deliver the same results for Japan."
