PASADENA, Calif., June 18, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Calhoun Vision, Inc., the world leader in adjustable intraocular lens technology for the treatment of cataracts, today announced the appointments of Ron Kurtz, M.D. and Eric Weinberg to the positions of Chief Operations Officer and Chief Commercial Officer, respectively.

Dr. Kurtz most recently co-founded LenSx Lasers, a developer of femtosecond lasers for cataract removal, and served as the Company's President and Chief Executive Officer until its August 2010 acquisition by Alcon Inc., when he became General Manager of Alcon LenSx. Previously, he co-founded IntraLase Corporation and served in a variety of senior leadership roles including President and Chief Executive Officer.
Eric Weinberg was also a co-founder of LenSx Lasers, and served as its Chief Commercial Officer until the acquisition of LenSx by Alcon. Previously, Eric was SVP of Global Marketing at IntraLase Corporation and President at Steinway Instrument Co., Inc., where he was involved in the development and commercialization of multiple refractive surgery technologies.
