BOSTON, MASS., June 30, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- The National Patient Safety Foundation (NPSF), a central voice for patient safety since 1997, recently welcomed Sotera Wireless as a member of the NPSF Patient Safety Coalition.

Sotera Wireless, based in San Diego, California, specializes in the development and supply of a comprehensive monitoring device that allows patients greater mobility while continuously providing data about vital signs to clinicians.

"Our work and products are very focused on improving patient safety and promoting greater efficiencies in health care," said Tom Watlington, chief executive officer, Sotera Wireless. "In joining the NPSF Patient Safety Coalition, we look forward to sharing our expertise and learning from the Foundation and our fellow members about challenges and opportunities ahead in the patient safety sphere."
The NPSF Patient Safety Coalition was created to align stakeholders from across the continuum of care in a unifying mission to make health care safer for all. Membership is open to myriad groups, including solutions providers working to address patient safety challenges, professional associations, advocacy organizations, and other similarly committed organizations. Coalition members gain valuable opportunities for networking, learning, and knowledge-sharing through quarterly webinars, an annual member meeting, special projects and events, and other high-value activities.

"Part of the NPSF Patient Safety Coalition's goal is to bring together innovators like Sotera Wireless to share their experiences and insights," said Tejal K. Gandhi, MD, MPH, CPPS, president and CEO of NPSF. "We are very pleased to welcome Sotera Wireless and we look forward to learning from them as we seek to drive improvements in health care safety."
