ROCK HILL, S.C., July 6, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- 3D Systems (NYSE:DDD) announced today that it will host an entertainment pop-up shop filled with licensed collectibles and limited-edition figurines from Star Wars, GI Joe, Marvel and more at San Diego's Comic-Con International 2015 from July 8 to July 12. Additionally, visitors to the pop-up shop, located in booth 3513 at the San Diego Convention Center, will have the opportunity to view, test and purchase 3DS' latest consumer gadgets, including Cube 3D printers, iSense scanners and Touch haptic devices.

Using 3D scanning and printing technology, 3DS is an integral part of the visual effects process for movies and TV, including "Star Wars" and "The Walking Dead," and uses authentic digital content from the films to create high-end licensed collectibles, jewelry and action figures for sale online.

In addition to bringing collectibles and other 3D-printed lifestyle items to comic aficionados, the 3DMe® Photobooth is back by popular demand. At the 3DMe Photobooth attendees can get 3D scanned and become their favorite film and TV characters by having their face put on a custom avatar.

"We couldn't ask for a better venue than Comic-Con to show the public how 3D printing is involved in everything from filmmaking to toy production," said Cathy Lewis, Chief Marketing Officer, 3DS. "We're thrilled to launch a unique 3D experience for our visitors that engages, informs and demonstrates the unlimited potential of 3D printing technology in entertainment and beyond."
