Covisint to Speak on Mobility and the Sharing Economy at TU-Automotive's Insurance Telematics USA Conference

Director of Connected Cars to Discuss the New Roles of the Insurer, Automaker and Telematics Service Provider

DETROIT, Sept. 1, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Covisint Corporation (Nasdaq:COVS), a leading cloud platform provider enabling Internet of Things (IoT) and Identity Management-centric (IdM) solutions, today announced that Tim Evavold, director of connected cars and dealer ecosystems at Covisint, will speak on an expert panel on mobility and the sharing economy at TU-Automotive's Insurance Telematics USA conference taking place September 2-3, 2015 in Chicago, IL.

During the panel titled "Mobility and the Sharing Economy," Evavold will join fellow automotive and telematics experts to examine how the connected car is changing the face of mobility. Specifically, the panel will weigh the differing needs of aging populations and the millennial generation in terms of vehicle ownership to identify how to tie insurance into mobility services. In addition, they will discuss emerging mobility models such as car sharing and ridesharing and how to factor these into a usage-based insurance policy to capitalize on a growing phenomenon in the nation's most densely populated regions. Evavold will join panel members Tracy Parks of Ford Motor Company and Malika Gandhi of Deloitte. Karen Albright of Towers Watson will moderate the panel.

"The era of mobility is clearly upon us, and it's not only changing the way organizations do business but is also having a huge influence on everyone's daily lives," said Evavold. "As vehicles become more connected and increasingly reliant on mobile technologies, the question around how to address this rapidly changing landscape from an insurance perspective moves front and center. Just as telecom providers bill us based on our mobile device usage, insurance companies now have to consider how to bill for coverage based on driving behavior and other factors that influence risk. In today's world where there are countless methods for obtaining usage-based data, leveraging a secure and scalable cloud platform is key."
