Kansas City's Celebrity Chefs Are Coming Together to Raise Funds for Don Bosco Centers

Six of Kansas City's most beloved chefs, and world-renowned celebrity chef Keith Keogh, will be cooking their hearts out for their love of Don Bosco Centers. The public is invited to attend Savor the Flavors, an evening to benefit the Don Bosco Centers. This festive cocktail party includes incredibly prepared food, live music, and live and silent auctions.

Celebrating its 75th year of making a profound difference in the lives of northeast Kansas City residents, Don Bosco Centers continues to serve 1,500 residents every day. Don Bosco offers free programs to thousands of adult refugees and immigrants to the Kansas City community as well as delivering nearly 200,000 meals each year to homebound senior adults. Don Bosco provides free clinical and wellness services, along with friendship and fellowship for our dearest citizens and we need your help in raising the funds to continue providing these much needed services.

  Celebrity chefs include Charles d'Ablaing of Chaz on the Plaza, Jerrold Brooks of Ameristar Casino Hotel Kansas City, Michael Corvino of the American Restaurant at Crown Center, Debbie Gold, Howard Hannah of The Reiger Hotel and CaVa, Keith Keogh of Pinnacle Entertainment in Las Vegas and Jasper Mirable of Jaspers. The evening's Emcee will be Mike Garozzo.
   
Event Timeline:  
  4:30 p.m. – 5:30 p.m. VIP Patron Party, Meet the chefs, cocktails, appetizers, Grand Marquis African Choir performs, Shop Silent auction, receive a signed cookbook and a Don Bosco Apron.
   
  5:30 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. Single Admission guests will experience the finest creations from the area's top chefs
   
  7 p.m. – 7:30 p.m.  Live Auction, Nigro Brothers auctioneers, Fund a Need:  Raise the Roof for Don Bosco – a $50,000 goal, followed by fabulous auction items including vacations, sporting events and unique experiences.

In 2015, the Don Bosco Centers celebrates our 75th year of impacting the community through our purpose of "Helping People Build Better Lives." The Don Bosco Centers is comprised of two interrelated centers creating a comprehensive social service agency addressing the daily issues and needs of the residents of northeast Kansas City. Nearly 1,500 people every day benefit from services provided by the Don Bosco Centers.

One of these centers is the Don Bosco Senior Center. Last year, a combined 196,800 meals were served at the Center and delivered to those homebound via our Meals-On-Wheels program. Additionally, seniors enjoy center-related activities and events fostering friendship, fellowship, and independence.

The Don Bosco ESL program, through a highly successful partnership with the Independence School District, is one of the largest ESL programs in the region, offering free, high quality programs to thousands of adult refugees and immigrants in the Kansas City Community.  Our eight-level English program  teaches vital language and life skills, including Literacy, English Language Learning, Citizenship/Civics training and High School Equivalency (GED) preparation, as well as job readiness skills.
