ARA Security Experts to Present at ASIS Event


VICKSBURG, Miss., Sept. 24, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- ARA scientists will present at the ASIS International 61st Annual Seminar and Exhibits (ASIS 2015). ASIS International is the leading organization for security professionals worldwide. The conference will be held in Anaheim, California September 28 – October 1, 2015. ASIS develops security-related education on a range of subjects to increase the effectiveness and productivity of security professionals. The organization also advocates the security management profession to business, the media, government entities, and the public. Monday, September 28, ARA Senior Vice President Joseph Smith PSP, Staff Scientist Alec Thurman, and Senior Engineer Kenneth Herrle CPP will give an advanced presentation titled "Evaluating the Nuclear Threat." The team will discuss the need for emergency response planners to understand the differences between nuclear and conventional explosives and the corresponding security and response efforts.

On Tuesday, September 29, ARA Vice President Nancy Renfroe PSP, Risk Management Director Daniel Renfroe PSP, and Security Engineering Director James Brokaw PE will lead a presentation titled "Ballistic Protection Issues, an Engineers Perspective." The presentation will delve into the protective role of commercial building materials in active shooter incidents.
