Lawson Chiropractic Applauds North Carolina Governor for Declaring October "Chiropractic Month"

ASHEVILLE, N.C., Oct. 4, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Asheville chiropractors Dr. Kenton Lawson and Dr. Sara Lawson are applauding North Carolina Governor Pat McCrory's decision to declare October 2015 "Chiropractic Month" for the state of North Carolina. Governor McCrory recently issued the declaration in an effort to bring greater public awareness to the benefits of chiropractic care. In his declaration, Governor McCrory emphasized that the education requirements to become a Doctor of Chiropractic (DC) are on par with allopathic and osteopathic medical schools. Chiropractic physicians are trained to treat musculoskeletal injuries, including car accident injuries like whiplash, sports injuries and workplace injuries using drug-free, non-invasive care.

The state of North Carolina is officially recognizing the benefits of chiropractic care for pain management and injury rehabilitation during the month of October.

"Over the last decade, the public has started to realize just how beneficial chiropractic care truly can be, especially as a drug-free pain management alternative," said Dr. Kenton Lawson, chiropractor at Lawson Chiropractic. "Tragically here in the United States, far too many individuals have become dependent on opioid painkillers. We truly are facing a prescription painkiller epidemic. Chiropractic care is a safe, effective alternative to prescription painkillers and can help patients manage pain without the need for these addictive and potentially deadly drugs."

Approximately half of all adults in the United States have visited a chiropractor, according to a recent Gallup Poll. In 2014, more than 33 million Americans adults received chiropractic care, with 14% of all adults receiving regular treatments. Drs. Kenton and Sara Lawson say that they hope this number will increase in the coming years as more Americans become familiar with the benefits of chiropractic care.

"Chiropractic care is truly coming into the mainstream as an effective pain management treatment option," said Dr. Sara Lawson. "However, the benefits of chiropractic treatments extend beyond pain relief. Every day in our practice, I see first-hand the difference that chiropractic care makes for all aspects of a patient's health. By targeting the root cause for injury and pain, chiropractic adjustments bring correct alignment back to the spine, help the body recover more quickly, and empower patients to take active control of their health."

The Asheville chiropractors are encouraging individuals who are new to chiropractic care and curious about the benefits to consider scheduling an informational appointment.

"An informational appointment is an opportunity to meet a chiropractor in person and ask common questions about treatments, such as what to expect," said Dr. Kenton Lawson. "Our goal is to help every patient feel comfortable and confident with his or her treatment choices."

Drs. Kenton and Sara Lawson provide comprehensive chiropractic services at Lawson Chiropractic. The Asheville chiropractors treat a variety of pain conditions including back pain, neck pain, headaches and migraines, sciatica, and whiplash injuries.
