“Gay Food 101” will explore the intersection of gay culture and food culture, in restaurants, aesthetics and food media. The event will feature a moderated conversation between diverse voices in the community, including Oakland-based writer John Birdsall and Sarah Keough, New York-based photographer, editor and publisher of “Put A Egg On It.”

“Blurb is proud to be part of the dialog about what gay culinary culture is and how it has evolved throughout the years,” said Eileen Gittins, founder and CEO, Blurb. “With lively discussion about how queer culinary tastemakers have changed what we all eat and drink—from James Beard to Craig Claiborne – this promises to be a fun and engaging evening with food, drinks and a curated selection of books and magazines.”

“Gay Food 101” is the first installment in a series of monthly events entitled “Food Book Party,” hosted by the Brooklyn-based Food Book Fair (foodbookfair.com/).  Media—contact press@blurb.com for complimentary press code.

"We're thrilled to announce Food Book Party and it’s great that Blurb is sponsoring our first event, Gay Food 101,” says Kimberly Chou, Managing Director Food Book Fair. “There is a lot of rich food writing and media all around us created by and driven by the LGBT community. Food Book Party is a great way for us to distill what we do at our annual festival into once-a-month gatherings of dynamic conversation, engaged community and delicious food and drink.”

In addition, the editors of “Mouthfeel” and “Jarry” will be available to discuss these recently launched magazines.  “Mouthfeel” champions the spirit, creativity and counter culture ethos of the world, which has historically defined gay culture and the best of culinary arts. “Jarry” brings together a community of gay chefs, eaters, artisans, writers, photographers, artists and industry influencers all celebrating the art of gay domesticity
