Harborside Health Centers break ground on new advertising campaign for outdoor cannabis

OAKLAND, Calif., Oct. 29, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Outdoor cannabis is getting a boost with Harborside's innovative marketing campaign promoting "SunGrown" products. Harborside Health Centers—based in Oakland and San Jose, Calif., and Portland, Ore.—are known for their outstanding patient care, lab-tested medicine, wellness culture and beautiful interiors. Now their design team is elevating the cannabis industry by curating thoughtful advertising campaigns for the harvest season to encourage environmentally sound cultivation. The SunGrown campaign runs from the end of October through November.

"Many patients choose indoor-grown cannabis without knowing why," said Steve DeAngelo, Harborside's co-founder and executive director. "Sadly, decades of prohibition forced growers to move indoors, using high-intensity lamps to replicate the power of the sun. Now, the reform of cannabis laws is allowing growers to move back into California's powerful sunlight, where they are growing some of the finest cannabis ever seen."

It takes the equivalent of 200 pounds of coal to produce one pound of indoor cannabis and 70 gallons of diesel fuel to produce electricity for one indoor cannabis plant.

"We are really excited about this year's harvest," said Harborside's creative director, Yoli Felix. "Through our new advertising campaign we hope to evoke the feeling of the farm, and to let people know that the cannabis coming in has been carefully tended and chosen, naturally grown under the sun, and truly worthy of celebration."

The SunGrown campaign was developed in collaboration with Bucktrout Creative, a multidisciplinary design studio in San Francisco.

"Cannabis advertising deserves the same treatment as the premium coffee or boutique wine industry," said Bucktrout Creative's founder, Simon Bucktrout.
