ARLINGTON, Va., Nov. 24, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- The National Defense Industrial Association's (NDIA) Special Operations/Low-Intensity Conflict (SO/LIC) Division is pleased to announce that it will present its highest award, the R. Lynn Rylander Award, to Lieutenant General Francis H. Kearney, III, USA, (Ret).
NDIA's SO/LIC Division Chair, Mr. Preston Plous, and the Division membership will present the award at its Annual Awards Banquet on January 20, 2016, which is being held in conjunction with the 27th Annual SO/LIC Symposium & Exhibition, January 19-21, 2016 in Washington, DC at the Washington Marriott Wardman Park.
Lieutenant General Frank Kearney retired on 1 January 2012 from the United States Army after 35½ years of service. His final active duty assignment was Deputy Director for Strategic Operational Planning at the National Counter-Terrorism Center in Washington DC. General Kearney now serves as the President of his own consulting company, Inside-Solutions-LLC, focusing on leader development in organizations. General Kearney also serves as the Chairman of the Advisory Board for Team Red, White and Blue, a non-profit which helps reintegrate wounded warriors with their communities as well as on the advisory boards of a number of companies including Proof Research, Teradact Solutions, Red Gate Group, Tiger Swan International, Westport Construction and Rutherfoord Insurance. General Kearney is also a member of the Threat Reduction Advisory Committee (TRAC) to the Secretary of Defense, and served on the National Defense Panel for the 2014 Quadrennial Defense Review (QDR). General Kearney is a Distinguished Fellow at the Joint Special Operations University and a Senior Special Operations Fellow at the Center for Naval Analysis as well as a Senior Mentor for the Department of State's Foreign Service Institute.
About the R. Lynn Rylander Award: The Award is named for R. Lynn Rylander, a Department of Defense civilian who was an early advocate and activist on the revitalization of Special Operations Forces and the organizational and legislative changes required to sustain them. He was also a founding member of the organization, which is now the SO/LIC Division of NDIA.
