General Nitzan Nuriel was given a Commendation for his work in counter-terrorism and protecting freedom

In a special ceremony at the Miami City Hall, 4th District Commissioner Francis Suarez presented the award. It was signed by all of the Miami Commisioners and Mayor Regalado. Commissioner Suarez has continued to fulfill his commitment to serve the citizens of Miami with his pro-active position on safety and security.

Nitzan Nuriel joined the Israeli Defense Forces in 1977, and quickly moved up through the ranks. Upon retirement, from 2007 to 2012, Nuriel served as Director of the Counter-Terrorism Board under the Israeli Prime Minister's Office. In the past he has been awarded the Legion of Merit from the President of the United States, as well as a Citation from the United States Congress in September 2015.
