Des Hague of Aegis Enterprises and WC&A Set Course for Hospitality Upgrade at West Virginia's Primary Public Assembly Building

WC&A Completes Hospitality Masterplan for Charleston Civic Center

DENVER, Colo., Dec. 31, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- via PRWEB - Originally completed in 1959 at the cost of $2.5 million, the Charleston Civic Center has undergone numerous renovations and expansions. The Charleston Civic Center currently consists of three main components: the Civic Center Coliseum, the Little Theater, and the Charleston Convention Center, also referred to as the Grand Hall.

Des Hague, Co-Founder of Aegis Enterprises and Partner of WC&A, is pleased to announce the recent completion of WC&A's work as owner's rep during the current major renovation of Charleston Civic Center which includes hospitality masterplan, programming and schematic design. The Convention Center upgrades will include various new coolers, a bulk meat preparation area, a Garde Manger, a bakery/pastry area, new production and finish cooking areas and a small cook-chill production area as well as upgrades in warewashing, plating assembly/banquet cart staging. Planned is also a new lobby bar with café seating and limited food menu.

For the Coliseum planned are selective upgrades of fixed concessions to include additional food production equipment, exhaust hoods (where possible) and cosmetic upgrades such as digital signage menu boards. In addition, there will be 10-12 new mobile thematic food and beverage carts for concourse service to guests.

Energy efficiency was a large part of the selection process. City Manager, David Molgaard, said during the announcement that once construction is completed, the building will be more than 30 percent more energy efficient than it currently is.

Ground was broken in June, but the nearly $100 million, three phase renovation project on the Charleston Civic Center isn't expected to be completed until December 2017.

City officials call the renovation a "game changer" for the city, saying the civic center is not only a landmark for Charleston, but for much of West Virginia.

"This is a very unique and authentic program that elevates the entire hospitality experience, bringing to life a tremendous advancement for the institution for years to come," said Hague.
