SESAC Hosts Annual Jazz Awards at Harlem's Famed Minton's Playhouse

NEW YORK, Jan. 14, 2016 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Jim Brickman, Robert Glasper and Cassandra Wilson were among the honorees when SESAC held its 9th Annual Jazz Awards Luncheon January 12 at the famed Harlem nightclub, Minton's Playhouse. The event, recognizing affiliated composers in the jazz genre, paid tribute to the Top 10 jazz albums of the past year.

Brickman's Soothe, Volume 1: Music To Quiet Your Mind & Soothe Your World, Glasper's Covered: The Robert Glasper Trio Recorded Live at Capitol Studios and Wilson's Come Forth By Day were among the critically-acclaimed releases recognized during the SESAC Jazz Luncheon.

"The Jazz Awards is one of my favorite SESAC events because we have the opportunity to recognize the brilliant creativity from our own jazz composers and artists who work so hard year after year," said Linda Lorence Critelli, Vice President, Writer/Publisher Relations. "I am immensely proud to work with these fine musicians, as well as to call many of them my friends and I salute them for their excellence."

In addition to recognizing top albums, the event also featured a riveting performance from revered jazz pianist Orrin Evans who also picked up a performance award at the luncheon.

The genre's top artists, songwriters and publishers were among those attending the event, which was hosted by Critelli and Trevor Gale, Senior Vice President, Writer/Publisher Relations.
