Canopy Partners Taps Alpha II Registry for PQRS Reporting Needs

Canopy Partners enters agreement with Alpha II for its PQRS Registry product and services for radiology groups

TALLAHASSEE, Fla., April 04, 2016 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Alpha II, LLC, a leading developer of software platforms, software as a service and publications that support the healthcare revenue cycle, announced today it has signed an agreement with Canopy Partners to offer its Physician Quality Reporting System (PQRS) Registry to successfully collect and report PQRS data – as outlined by The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) – on behalf of radiology group clients.

The Alpha II Registry is a secure, integrated, web-based solution that provides data validation for reporting and performance rates, to help ensure a practice’s outcomes and attestation requirements are met. Unlike many registries focused on certain specialties, the Alpha II Registry is able to report on all quality measures – including individual and group – and for all specialties, through a platform of data collection, editing and submission services.

“The standard process of submitting claims for reporting just doesn’t work for all customers so we evaluated other options to make the process as effective and efficient as possible,” said Debbie Hodges, Director of Revenue Cycle Management at Canopy Partners. “Alpha II’s Registry was the perfect tool for us to implement, and we’re looking forward to measuring results after the 2015 reporting period.”

The Physician Quality Reporting System (PQRS) was developed by The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) as part of its Quality Strategy to improve the quality and efficiency of healthcare. After the data reported through PQRS registries is compiled by CMS for the prior year, it provides participating providers with quantifiable, objective, actionable feedback to see how they are meeting certain quality measures and benchmark their performance against their peers. Armed with this knowledge, these individual physicians and group practices can assess their quality of care – and make adjustments where necessary – for a more evidence-based approach to medicine.

Historically, participation in the PQRS program was encouraged by CMS through incentive payments for satisfactory reporting. Beginning in 2015, however, in an attempt to reward value rather than volume, CMS has started applying negative payment adjustments to all providers who do not satisfactorily report data on quality measures for covered professional services.

“Alpha II has had a longstanding involvement with the PQRS program since back to 2007 when it was only an initiative known as the Physician Quality Reporting Initiative (PQRI),” said Jan Powell, CEO of Alpha II. “As we continue to move throughout the reporting years, 2016 and 2017 will bring a number of new changes and reporting measures to the program. Our team is invested in understanding the ins and outs of PQRS, and combined with our intuitive registry, we can help ease the process for providers – no matter the size or specialty.”
