LastPass Extension Now Available for Microsoft Edge

Windows Insider participants gain early access to the first password manager browser extension for Microsoft Edge, empowering web users with more secure, streamlined account logins

FAIRFAX, Va., June 08, 2016 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Today LastPass, makers of the world’s most popular password manager, released the LastPass browser extension for Microsoft Edge, the widely acclaimed default browser for Windows 10. The extension is currently available for members of the Windows Insider Program, an opt-in program that allows Windows enthusiasts to secure early access to the Microsoft operating systems, hardware, and PC builds. LastPass is the first password manager extension supported on Microsoft Edge and as a result, gives millions of Windows 10 users a simple, secure way to store their passwords, auto-generate new passwords at their convenience, and streamline their web browsing.

The LastPass extension enables quick access to the LastPass password vault within Microsoft Edge. As users browse the web, LastPass will autofill passwords saved in their vault, and new accounts can promptly be added to the vault without navigating away from the current page. The extension and the LastPass field icons appear as you’re browsing to manage logins, fill passwords, and view and secure your data. The LastPass extension also provides built-in security features, such as alerts that let the user know when there are duplicate passwords in the vault and presents the option to generate random passwords.

“Having safely stored passwords available at your fingertips is critical for online security, but it also greatly improves the browsing experience,” says Joe Siegrist, VP and GM of LastPass. “The early development of the Microsoft Edge app extension underscores our commitment to remain ahead of the curve in providing anytime, anywhere access for LastPass users. As the only password manager extension currently available in Microsoft Edge, enthusiasts may be interested in signing up for the Windows Insider Program so that they can begin testing the extension. Those interested in joining the program can visit https://insider.windows.com/ to sign up.”

The LastPass extension will be widely available to Microsoft Edge users later this year. For more information about LastPass, visit www.lastpass.com.
