Blue Nile Expands “Retail Reimagined” Concept to D.C.-Metro Area

This is the company’s second Webroom opening in less than two weeks

SEATTLE, June 13, 2016 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Leading online jeweler Blue Nile (NASDAQ:NILE) continued the expansion of its innovative retail experience with the opening of another Webroom today at Tysons Corner Center mall in Fairfax County, Virginia. This is the third location of the company’s “retail reimagined” experience overall and the second to open in less than two weeks. On May 27, Blue Nile opened its second Webroom at The Westchester mall in White Plains, New York.

“It’s unusual for a retailer to open new locations so rapidly, such is our belief in the concept of a reimagined shopping experience,” said Blue Nile President, Chairman, and Chief Executive Officer Harvey Kanter. “Today’s shopper wants the freedom to shop on their own terms, and without high-pressure sales tactics and needlessly inflated prices. Our Webroom gives them the ability to see, touch, and feel our jewelry with the benefits of superior online selection and value.”

Serving the Washington D.C. metropolitan area, this is the first Webroom to open outside of New York. Blue Nile’s highly efficient Webrooms are a hybrid online/offline shopping experience in one low overhead installation. Unlike traditional jewelry stores, customers can walk into a Webroom and independently try on an assortment of engagement rings, view jewelry from every angle in dazzling display cases, and get pressure-free advice from non-commissioned consultants. All transactions continue to happen online via in-store tablets or the customer can choose to order at a later time on their own smartphone, PC, or tablet, through the Blue Nile website at www.bluenile.com.

As announced in March, Blue Nile will open a fourth Webroom later this summer at the Washington Square mall in Portland, Oregon.
