LAGUNA WOODS, Calif., July 6, 2016 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Associa Professional Community Management (Associa PCM) was recently involved in a community coordinated battalion-wide high-rise fire drill at The Towers at Laguna Woods Village. The training exercise was organized by the Orange County Fire Authority (OCFA) to simulate scenarios possible in the event of a real fire.
"This training opportunity allowed our OCFA personnel to exercise our high-rise operational plan in a realistic environment," said OCFA Captain/Paramedic Daniel Yeh. "The feedback I have received has been overwhelmingly positive and we all agree this is something we need to do with regularity in order to maintain proficiency."
Associa PCM General Manager Katy Howe and Maintenance Foreman Maury Rios gave the battalion full access to 12 flights of stairs that the crew climbed in full gear during the hot afternoon on June 27. The joint effort allowed Rios to gain insight about how first responders operate on a fire scene and in turn he shared his expertise about the building and its systems as part of the training and development.
