Whipsaw Product Design Takes Home Double Gold at the International Design Excellence Awards (IDEA)

Whipsaw was honored with two top IDEA awards for the Google OnHub wireless router and the reusable HUBB Oil Filter.

SAN JOSE, Calif., Aug. 22, 2016 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Whipsaw Inc, the Silicon Valley-based Industrial Design and Engineering firm that creates innovative products for companies around the globe, announces two gold awards and six additional finalists for this year's IDEA competition. Google OnHub and HUBB Filter were chosen as top winners out of more than 1,700 projects from 30+ countries.

IDEA is an initiative of the Industrial Designers Society of America (IDSA). Judging for design excellence is based on design innovation, benefit to the user, benefit to the client, benefit to society and appropriate aesthetics. This year a team of global design experts led by Jury Chair Cameron Campbell declared 26 Gold, 47 Silver and 63 Bronze IDEA winners.

"The IDEA jury is renowned for their rigorous judgment process to select only a few superior solutions out of many, so winning two Gold IDEA awards this year is a huge honor. Congratulations to our clients Google and HUBB Filters too. Their belief in design excellence, combined with a sincere commitment to make innovative products that benefit both the end user and the environment, is what made these awards possible," said Dan Harden, President/CEO and Principal Designer of Whipsaw.

Whipsaw awarded designs:

Google OnHub is a new type of residential router that connects all your wireless devices to the Internet and to one another. Its high performance technology inside is paired beautifully with its utterly simple, warm and futuristic appearance outside.

HUBB Lifetime Oil Filter offers a significant environmental advantage by replacing conventional disposable automotive oil filters with an all-metal dual-filter washable unit that lasts a lifetime.

Whipsaw-designed finalists include the VersaMe Starling child development wearable, Arris X.hub, Outset Medical Tablo home dialysis system, Mimosa C5i gateway-to-home antenna, Pacific Biosciences Sequel genome system, and the TP-Link Wing router.
