SAN JOSE, Calif., Sept. 15, 2016 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Whipsaw Inc, the Silicon Valley-based Industrial Design and Engineering firm that creates innovative products for companies around the globe, announces a 2016 Innovation by Design Award for the HUBB reusable oil filter. The Google OnHub wireless router is chosen as a finalist.

The Innovation by Design Awards is an initiative of Fast Company.  The program honors the most innovative and disruptive design solutions to today's business problems. This year's judging panel selected only 15 winners from more than 1,700 international submissions across 11 categories. Winners include big-name brands like Facebook and Target, design firms like Ideo and Pentagram, and emerging companies like Kinduct and d.light.

"Each of those projects represents what's best about design today: big ideas, meticulously thought-out details, and a clear viewpoint about how we live now—and how it could be better," states Fast Company.

"It is now a necessity for designers to solve the real problems that harm our planet, and the best reason to innovate unapologetically. Big ideas are what the IBD awards are about and why it's a great honor to earn one for the reusable HUBB oil filter," said Dan Harden, President/CEO and Principal Designer of Whipsaw.

Whipsaw awarded designs:

HUBB Lifetime Oil Filter (IBD winner) offers an important environmental gain by replacing conventional disposable automotive oil filters with an all-metal, dual-filter, washable oil filter that is reusable and lasts a lifetime.

Google OnHub (IBD finalist) is a new type of residential router that connects all your wireless devices to the Internet and one another. Its high-performance technology inside is contrasted beautifully with its quiet and graceful appearance outside. Cylindrical, devoid of fussy electronic design details, and a bamboo shell advocate a warmer friendlier future for consumer electronics.
