More Choice for Bay Area Residents With New Oakland to London Service

British Airways announces Oakland service starting March 28, 2017

NEW YORK, Nov. 01, 2016 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Next spring, residents of the San Francisco Bay Area will have a choice of three airports when flying to London, thanks to the start of British Airways’ Oakland to London service, starting March 28, 2017.

The flights will operate four days a week between London Gatwick and Oakland International Airport, accommodating 275 customers across a three cabin Boeing 777-200ER.

The new service will allow British Airways to be the only European airline to operate from all three Bay Area airports.  In 2016, British Airways launched the only daily nonstop service between San Jose, CA and London Heathrow.  It also operates a twice daily service between San Francisco and London Heathrow.

Customers booking from Oakland will fly to London Gatwick with quick and easy connections to over 40 cities across Europe, including Malaga, Nice, Venice and Amsterdam.

To celebrate this announcement, British Airways has launched special fares for travel from March 28 to May 12 from $599 roundtrip per person in economy and $1115 in premium economy.  Fares in business class begin from $3597 and all fares include taxes, fees and charges.

World Traveller Plus, premium economy, is a separate cabin with personalized service.  The seats feature a 38-inch pitch, in-seat power and customers can enjoy a choice of meals from the business class menu cabin.

World Traveller, the airline’s economy cabin, offers seat back entertainment, a choice of meal along with complimentary bar service throughout the flight and free accessories such as blanket and headsets.

Customers on British Airways services enjoy benefits such as free baggage allowance and seat allocation.  The airline also provides a “Feed Kids First” service which ensures that children are served first, allowing parents to enjoy their own meal, and with a deposit of $10 per person, customers have 72 hours to confirm details with their friends and family, making it even easier to book with confidence.
