Nexamp Completes 2.6 MW Community Solar Project in Sutton, MA

Nexamp's 2.6 MW installation is one of the largest Community Solar projects in the Northeast providing electricity cost savings to homes, nonprofits, and small businesses across southeastern Massachusetts

SUTTON, MA--(Marketwired - Nov 16, 2016) - Nexamp, Inc., today announced the completion of a 2.6 megawatt Community Solar project located on the Sutton-Northbridge town line in southeastern Massachusetts. Consisting of over 8,000 panels, the project is one of the largest Community Solar projects in the Northeast serving local homes, nonprofits and small businesses. The new solar array is built on the site of an unused gravel quarry, transforming underutilized land into a productive source of revenue for private landowners and the Town of Sutton. The installation will also provide substantial energy cost savings to the Town of Easton as well as Wheaton College who each entered into long-term agreements with Nexamp to purchase discounted energy credits generated by the project.

Additionally, over 100 local residents, non-profits, and small businesses will participate in the project directly through Nexamp's innovative Solarize My Bill community solar program. Customers who subscribe to the project through Solarize My Bill will realize guaranteed energy savings throughout the term of their enrollment. Together with the Town of Easton and Wheaton College, participants are expected to save millions in aggregate electricity costs over project's lifetime.

"As a leader in Community Solar, Nexamp is committed to making solar energy more accessible to the community, creating local jobs, and meeting sustainability goals," said Zaid Ashai, CEO of Nexamp. "Our successful partnership with the Town of Sutton, the Town of Easton, and Wheaton College exemplifies the transformative economic and environmental benefits that can be achieved through solar development. We are thrilled to bring another Community Solar project to Massachusetts."

The Sutton project is one of over two dozen solar facilities that Nexamp expects to complete over the next six months. By the end of 2017, the company expects to be serving over 2,500 community solar customer accounts through the Solarize My Bill program in Massachusetts alone, as it expands its offering into promising new markets in New York, Rhode Island, and Maryland.
