Bio-Optronics® and OmniComm Systems® to Provide Top-Tier Cancer Research Institution With CTMS and EDC for Real-Time Data Access

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla., Feb. 22, 2017 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- OmniComm Systems, Inc.  (OTCQX:OMCM), a global leading provider of clinical data management technology, today announced plans to team up with Bio-Optronics Inc., a leading software and service solutions provider to the healthcare and life sciences industry. Under an agreement with a major institution seeking to develop cures and treatments for cancer and other catastrophic diseases,  the two companies will integrate their proprietary products, namely TrialMaster® EDC, an electronic data capture (EDC) system from OmniComm, and Clinical Conductor®  — a  clinical trial management system (CTMS) from Bio-Optronics.

The client, a multi-center research organization, is looking to increase productivity and efficiency, while reducing costs. The process requires the integration of CTMS and EDC systems. Integrating these systems ensures that overlapping data is reported correctly in both systems, thereby saving time and reducing the risk for errors. For most organizations, redundant data entry is a major source of operational inefficiency and errors.

EDC is typically the primary data source to recognize fundamental clinical metrics, such as patient accrual, open query counts, patient visit dates and even reports of adverse experiences. CTMS serves as the operational hub for a clinical trial. It tracks and reports on numerous components of a clinical trial, including study progress, completed visits, enrollment, financial activity and regulatory compliance. The integration between EDC and CTMS allows individuals responsible for clinical operations to more proactively manage activities, such as site initiation, patient recruitment, patient safety, site payments, capacity planning and risk-based monitoring.

“Clinical Conductor from Bio-Optronics has proven to be an excellent complement to TrialMaster because of Clinical Conductor’s dual focus on sponsor and site clinical trial management,” said Ken Light, executive vice president of Transformation and Professional Services, OmniComm Systems. “Bio-Optronics has incorporated a level of attention to details that allows sponsors and sites to configure, drill down and report on the key operational criteria that document clinical activities, drive uniform processes and support operational change. The Bio-Optronics team has been very impressive to work with, and the technology is fully compatible with OmniComm’s Microsoft-based technology stack.”

Integration of TrialMaster EDC and Clinical Conductor enables data to synchronize in real time upon data entry. This constant communication ensures all parties are operating with the most current information.

“This co-venture exemplifies the impact of integrating best-in-class research applications from organizations with specific areas of expertise,” said Steve Bailey, vice president of Clinical Conductor CTMS at Bio-Optronics. “TrialMaster© EDC from OmniComm delivers the robust tools and insights that pair with Clinical Conductor to deliver the most complete end-to-end research management solution in the marketplace, and we look forward to building the relationship between our two companies and delivering value to the marketplace.”
