Xplore Fulfilling New $854K Order in Support of FlashParking’s New Rugged Tablet-Powered Access Control Equipment for Parking

Bobcat Fully Rugged Tablets Deliver Power, Resilience to Pass Intense Stress Testing

AUSTIN, Texas, Feb. 22, 2017 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Xplore Technologies Corp. (NASDAQ:XPLR) today announced that FlashParking is currently deploying its Xplore Bobcat Fully Rugged Tablet PC as the user interface for hundreds of Smart Station access control kiosks installed across the United States. Xplore began fulfilling the customer’s $854K order in November 2016 after the Bobcat proved to be the only computer to withstand both the extreme heat and extreme cold of the kiosks’ outdoor operating environments.

As Mark Holleran, president and COO of Xplore, noted: “FlashParking has created and successfully executed on one of the most innovative garage and parking lot automation solutions in the U.S. They understand that kiosk downtime due to internal computer failures is costly to their customers and, therefore, a threat to the vitality of their own business. Fortunately, Xplore’s rugged tablet was a key component in the overall reliability of their powerful parking solution, while reducing the deployment risks for parking operators and asset owners seeking to gain better control over their pricing and enforcement models.”

All of FlashParking’s access control equipment for garage and parking lots feature a 10.1” Bobcat touchscreen rugged tablet installed within the Smart Station kiosk. The bright sunlight-viewable computers allow vehicle owners access via credit card, mobile phone number, barcoded tickets, RFID proximity card, online parking reservations and more. The same Smart Station can also be configured as a pay-on-foot, pay by plate, pay by space, or pay and display kiosk, all of which run FlashParking’s award-winning parking platform that provides real-time control over parking operations.

“The Xplore Bobcat was not only an affordable mobile computing platform, but its durability and flexibility afforded both FlashParking and our customers a unique competitive advantage,” added Carlos Hernandez, VP of Research and Design of FlashParking. “The tablet’s continuous operation, even in extreme climates, means that our customers don’t have to worry about kiosk downtime due to weather fluctuations.”
