Review by the President & CEO of Suominen Corporation in the Annual General Meeting to be held today

The Annual General Meeting of Suominen Corporation will be held today in Helsinki, starting at 10:00 am. In her review in the Annual General Meeting, Ms. Nina Kopola, President & CEO of Suominen, will discuss the financial development and the strategy implementation of Suominen in 2016 as well as the outlook for the beginning of 2017.

“Suominen’s year 2017 has started as we expected and sales volumes have been on a higher level compared to the first months of last year, especially in the United States. Competition continued to be tight in nonwovens for baby wipes and for flushable products, notably in Europe. Consumers’ confidence has still been on a good level in both of our main market areas, Europe and North America, and even record-high in the US,” Nina Kopola says.

Kopola is pleased with the execution of Suominen’s strategy.

“We have made progress in the execution of our strategy for 2015–2017 that creates conditions for growth. We are at the moment starting up the new production line in Bethune, SC, USA and the first orders will be delivered to our customers soon. The new line, with its full capacity to be dedicated to higher value added products, will have a very significant role in achieving Suominen’s future objectives for growth and profitability. Thanks to the investments we completed earlier, we have already launched new higher value added products to the market and, after the Bethune investment is completed, there is more to come,” Kopola says.
