Aligned with its long-standing tradition of supporting local communities, Hawaiian Telcom employees raised $158,063 for United Way organizations statewide in 2016. This record-breaking amount is $10,000 more than the previous year.

“As a kamaʻāina company that has served our state for more than 130 years, our team is committed to supporting the communities in which we all live and work,” said Scott Barber, Hawaiian Telcom President and CEO. “Our employees are the essence of Aloha Spirit and give generously from their hearts to raise money and awareness of issues that ultimately touch all of us. We’re proud to help create positive change in Hawaiʻi.”

Contributions were made to Aloha United Way on Oʻahu, Hawaiʻi Island United Way, Kauaʻi United Way and Maui United Way.

“We are so very fortunate to have the personal commitment and support of Hawaiian Telcom’s leadership and employees every year,” said Cindy Adams, President and CEO of Aloha United Way. “Through the generosity of these employees and the company’s deep commitment to healthier communities, Aloha United Way and its partner agencies can continue to house families, deliver food to homebound elderly, provide preschool opportunities and afterschool care to keiki and offer hope to struggling teens.”

Hawaiian Telcom’s fundraising campaign began in August with more than 140 employees supporting Aloha United Way’s fall campaign kick-off at Tamarind Park in Honolulu. Hawaiian Telcom employees statewide raised the funds through individual pledges and creative events that included a Change for Change coin collection and a country fair and bake sale. Hawaiian Telcom employees have raised more than $1 million for United Way since 2006.
