Rubicon Organics Launches 1964 Supply Co.™ Craft Cannabis Brand With Focus on Sustainability, Innovation and Sparking Creativity

Powered by groundbreaking artist collaborations and sustainably sourced top-shelf products, 1964 Supply Co.™ explores the intersection of high culture and cutting-edge cultivation

LOS ANGELES, June 20, 2017 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Rubicon Organics proudly launches a new craft cannabis and lifestyle brand—1964 Supply Co.™ —with a limited-edition artist series, created by world-renowned illustrators and animators. In 1964, Dr. Raphael Mechoulam made headlines when he discovered the THC molecule and his research breakthrough set the stage to spark a new understanding of not just the cannabis plant, but human physiology as well. 1964 Supply Co.™ is about more than supplying a high quality and sustainably grown product; we are starting a movement that will elevate the image of American cannabis.

Visionary Art

The launch of 1964 Supply Co.™ via the industry’s most dynamic collaboration with the arts community is at the core of our vision for this brand. “Our artist series reflects 1964 Supply Co.™’s passion for creativity and self-expression,” explains Jesse McConnell, CEO of parent company Rubicon Organics. “This is a new brand, but we’ve got deep roots when it comes to cannabis, always with a focus on quality, sustainability and celebrating authentic cannabis culture.”

1964 Supply Co.™’s inaugural line features a limited-edition artist series, created by world renowned illustrators, tattoo artists, animators and others. Each artist’s unique experience with the craft offerings was the inspiration for the artwork selected for product packaging. In partnership with international artists such as Jeremy Fish, Tristan Eaton, Katie So, Coté Escrivá, Joe Wilson and Lauren Young Smith, 1964 Supply Co.™ will initially offer thirteen distinct strains of cannabis, grouped into three broad categories—Flow [Indica], Lift [Sativa], and Tune [CBD]—an approach that brings consumers a wide range of options, while delivering precisely tailored effects.

The company will be launching the 1964 product line in Los Angeles at an exclusive event in collaboration with Secret Walls. This event will feature a live art illustration battle among emerging artists and will be judged by some of the creative geniuses behind the 1964 Artist Collective. In the coming weeks, an exclusive video series will offer a behind-the scenes look at how these artists imbued the company’s packaging with their unique identities and experiences.“ This was a great opportunity for me to test out a strain, and then take its taste and smell—plus the experiential responses I had—and transform it all into art,” says San Francisco based illustrator Jeremy Fish, who designed packaging for 1964 Supply Co.™’s Sour Diesel. “When people see the packaging I created, and then try the strain inside, I want them to think, ‘Right on, I know exactly why you drew that. I feel the same way.’”

Emerging Market, Proven Expertise

As the co-founder of the ninth legal producer license issued in Canada, Rubicon Organics CEO Jesse McConnell has spent decades perfecting sustainable growing processes. Now he’s bringing his innovative approach to sustainable cannabis cultivation to American consumers. The company’s goal is to manufacture product that is sun-grown in organic soil using its own proprietary organic fertilizer completely free of pesticides or harsh chemicals. Construction is under way of a state-of-the art 40,000-square-foot greenhouse located in Washington. Rubicon Organics is also developing a multi-acre, high-tech greenhouse facility in California, where it will use proprietary techniques to grow premium quality product. From seed-to-store, the company’s in-house cultivation team maintains oversight, right down to formulating its own soil and fertilizer recipes.

“I founded 1964 Supply Co.™ on the belief that cannabis is an empowering force in society, and with the goal of inspiring as many people as possible to express themselves, to be environmentally conscious and—above all—to have a good time,” McConnell said. “As someone who’s been fighting my whole life to perfect that experience, I know we will fulfill that vision and set a high standard for the industry.”
