13 Golf Courses announce season long “Kids Play Free” Program on Prince Edward Island

CHARLOTTETOWN, Prince Edward Island, June 28, 2017 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Golf PEI announced today that 13 of its member courses have launched a “Kids Play Free” program for the entire 2017 golf season.  These 13 courses will run a program for the entire season where one free junior player (18 years of age or younger) will play free after 3pm with a paid adult.

“The program is very simple and straight forward and it enhances PEI even more as a golf vacation destination,” adds Mark McLane, Golf PEI’s executive director.

“Our operators understand how important families are to tourism on PEI and this is just another great reason for them to choose to visit PEI. Not only will it help get children get introduced to the sport, it may help keep the 25 to 40 year old playing the game regularly as they become busier with careers and family,” said Golf PEI President and general manager of Glasgow Hills Golf Course, Gary Sheehan.

“Not only is this initiative a great way to promote a healthy, active lifestyle, but it also gives children a chance to discover the game and that can be very beneficial to the industry on the Island,” said Minister of Economic Development and Tourism Heath MacDonald. “I applaud the participating courses and Golf PEI for offering this program and taking real steps to grow the game and golf tourism in our province.”
