EDMONTON, Alberta, June 30, 2017 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- To celebrate Canada’s 150th birthday, NorQuest College’s Centre for Intercultural Education (CIE) has developed, and will lead, a national online cultural awareness campaign: My Canada My Story.
Funded by the Government of Canada - Canadian Heritage Department, the project opened yesterday with the launch of www.mycanadamystory.ca and will continue to March 2018.
“We believe in sharing stories of inclusion with pride,” says NorQuest vice president of business development, Marian Gayed. “This is a very NorQuest way of contributing to Canada 150 celebrations, a national dialogue of how we include each other, and how we work together every day to make this country better. Our college wants to better understand, support, and celebrate what it means to be Canadian.”
NorQuest College's Centre for Intercultural Education is recognized regionally and nationally as a leader in diversity and inclusion programming, customized corporate training solutions, and innovative applied research.
So how does the campaign work? Simply tell us what Canada means to you:
- Ask yourself, how you envision Canada’s future?
- What do the next 150 years hold for us?
- Tell us what makes you proud to be Canadian
Participants can pen their stories, create a video blog, or capture their story in a photo and submit them at www.mycanadamystory.ca. The Centre for Intercultural Education is using the submissions to develop a learning package around Canadians’ perspectives of Canada, focusing on diversity and inclusion. Stories are available for public viewing on the website, and every Canadian is asked to be part of this historical project. Stories can also be shared on Facebook by tagging @mycanadamystory.
The individual with the most shares by September 28, 2017 wins a two-night stay at a Fairmont Hotels & Resorts located in Canada, graciously donated by My Canada My Story Partners: Vision Travel and Fairmont Hotels & Resorts Canada.
