Action Sport and Workplace Tech Company Targets $17B Headphone and Headset Market with Revolutionary Magnetic Shock Lock™ System

Earshot headphones are the world’s first headphone product to use magnets in the earbuds and over-ear arms as the mechanism for securing them to users’ ears. This gives outdoor enthusiasts and workers the freedom to work and play harder, farther, faster and higher than ever before.

NEW ZEALAND, July 17, 2017 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Earshot announces the launch of its Earshot headphones, including its revolutionary Shock Lock™ connection system.

Outdoor enthusiast and tech startup entrepreneur and mentor James Bell-Booth was preparing for a run in the Tongariro National Park in New Zealand when he became frustrated with his headphones: they completely distracted him from focusing on his performance and the enjoyment of the run. He had to force the earbuds painfully into his ears to get them to stay, and even when they did, he was constantly distracted by them loosening and falling out. So, James and Earshot co-founder John Grayson, a highly-experienced engineer, began designing a set of headphones that would use magnets in the earbuds and over-ear arms to comfortably secure the headphones in a user’s ears.

“We wanted to redefine the headphone experience based on how they feel on the ear, not how they sound,” says Bell-Booth. “Through extensive research and development, we’ve developed expertise in the concept of magnetic earphone attachment, and subsequently we designed a headphone product that people will forget they are even wearing.  We see the Shock Lock system reaching beyond action sports and into the workplace, where busy professionals need to receive information in a hands-free manner.”
