Calix Recognized as Top Vendor in Four out of Five Gfast Categories in Broadbandtrends Service Provider Survey

Global service providers name Calix the clear leader in Gfast Product Roadmap, Performance, and Service and Support; Tied for top spot in Deployment Experience

PETALUMA, Calif., Aug. 29, 2017 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Calix, Inc. (NYSE:CALX), the world leader in Subscriber Driven Intelligent Access, announced it was ranked as a top vendor in four out of five categories in the recent Broadbandtrends “2017 Global Service Provider Survey: G.fast Deployment Strategies.” Calix AXOS Gfast solutions earned the number one spot from global service providers in the Product Performance, Product Roadmap, and Service and Support categories, while also tying for the top spot in Deployment Experience. As the first to demonstrate Collective Dynamic Timing Allocation (cDTA) and introduce bonded Gfast solutions for the delivery of symmetrical gigabit services over Gfast, Calix continues to differentiate through innovation and customer focus.

“Worldwide, the market for Gfast is quickly accelerating, moving rapidly from lab trials to full-scale deployments as the technology breathes new life into copper networks,” said Teresa Mastrangelo, principal and founder of Broadbandtrends. "In conducting this survey, service providers have made it clear that the market will continue to grow in the future, as fiber-to-the-building deployment scenarios, the prime application for Gfast, are rich opportunities to gain additional market share. As Gfast evolves with new advancements like cDTA and Amendment 3, the market is likely to keep accelerating as service providers look to offer faster broadband speeds over their existing copper infrastructure."

AXOS Gfast solutions from Calix, including the E3-16F DPU and E5-16F MDU Gfast Nodes, provide service providers with industry-leading breadth in technology, deployment scenarios, and interoperability testing. Throughout the Broadband Forum’s Gfast certification program, Calix has successfully demonstrated more interoperability scenarios than any other vendor. These certification milestones include:

  • Certification across multiple chipsets, including Sckipio and Broadcom
  • First to certify both DPU and premises solutions with multiple chipsets
  • The first end-to-end certified solution from the E5-16F Gfast Node to the 801F GigaPoint

“Gfast has proven to be a strategic technology for our service provider customers, and many are taking advantage of our AXOS solutions to quickly deliver market-changing services with the copper and coaxial networks they already have in place,” said Shane Eleniak, Calix vice president of systems products. “As the Gfast ecosystem continues to mature with the Broadband Forum interoperability programs and the technology adds support for faster speeds over a longer reach, service providers will have even more options to deploy Gfast and extend the life of their copper assets. We stand today as the world’s most widely commercially deployed Gfast vendor for a reason – we are committed to being the catalyst for innovation in the Gfast market, and partnering with our service provider customers as they begin to accelerate their deployments of this powerful technology.”
