Nuance Wins Two 2017 Speech Industry Awards

Company Recognized by Speech Technology Magazine in Star Performer and Implementation Categories

BURLINGTON, Mass., Aug. 31, 2017 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Nuance Communications, Inc. (NASDAQ:NUAN) was awarded two of Speech Technology Magazine’s 11th Annual Speech Industry Awards. Nuance was recognized with the 2017 Star Performer and Implementation Awards, the latter featuring client Nebraska Medicine. These wins reflect Nuance’s stellar reputation as a leader among speech technology vendors, and further validate the company’s leadership and expertise in voice, natural language understanding, and artificial intelligence (AI).

The Star Performer Award annually recognizes speech technology vendors that have contributed to industry growth with innovative product or service launches, a heightened focus on speech technologies through alliances, mergers, and acquisitions, or an exceptional execution of existing products or services. Nuance was selected this year for the launch of its Dragon professional suite, which offers dictation and documentation capabilities for law enforcement and medical and legal professionals, AI enhancements to Dragon Drive that allow the connected car to deliver personalized recommendations to the driver and passengers inside, and automated monitoring capabilities for its analytics portfolio. The award also recognizes recent advancements with Nina, Nuance’s virtual assistant platform for customer engagement, including integration with Amazon Alexa, the launch of Nina Coach for improved training and deployment, and expanded authentication and fraud detection capabilities through multi-factor Nina ID 2.0 as well as the company’s new, biometrics-driven Security Suite. Nuance was previously named a Star Performer in the 2016 and 2014 Speech Industry Awards.

The Implementation Award spotlights Nebraska Medicine’s application of the Dragon Medical One cloud-based platform and the significant business benefit reaped from its deployment. Dragon Medical One is an AI-driven solution that allows physicians to speak their notes aloud and use voice to control and capture the complete patient narrative directly into an electronic health record (EHR) in real time. Since implementing Nuance’s Dragon Medical One, Nebraska Medicine has seen:

  • 23% reduction in transcription costs;
  • 94% of users find the software is enabling them to do their jobs better;
  • 71% of users report documentation quality has improved significantly; and
  • 50% of users confirm Nuance saves them more than 30 minutes per day.

“We are honored to be once again recognized by Speech Technology Magazine for our innovative solutions, and for the part they play in our customers’ success,” said Vlad Sejnoha, chief technology officer at Nuance. “These awards validate our leadership position in the market, underscoring our commitment to providing cutting-edge solutions that deliver the most intelligent and natural customer experiences.”
