Global Design Studio Aimee LaCalle Launches Second Collection

New culturally-inspired designs celebrate the beauty of Santa Fe

Santa Fe, New Mexico, Sept. 12, 2017 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) --

From the intersection of travel, art, and curiosity, comes the anticipated second collection – Santa Fe – by Aimee LaCalle. Twice a year, LaCalle and her design team launch a location-inspired collection curated from travels around the world. The company’s celebrated debut, the San Miguel collection, was influenced by artisans based in the 15C mountain town in Mexico. Mastering the technical applications of textile print production, Aimee LaCalle’s collections feature original engineered designs (prints that are applied uninterrupted, flowing across seams with precision) that are translated across multiple platforms, including custom-made bedding, curtain panels, tablecloths and more. Today, the company also announces a new division offering expanded repeat print fabric-by-the-yard and wallpaper options, which are available exclusively to the trade.

“The Aimee LaCalle design studio is a culmination of my own passion for travel, my love of art and design, and the deep respect I have for other cultures. By sharing this passion with others, I hope to provoke conversation, encourage exploration and provide the inspiration for a well-traveled life within the home,” said founder Aimee LaCalle.

The company’s creative team travels the world searching for cultural, artistic, and ecological inspiration. When on location, the team collects highly-personalized photography, sketches, interviews and video footage to bring back to their Santa Fe-based design studio and translate to contemporary designs. For its latest collection, Aimee LaCalle is privileged to include collaborations with renowned New Mexico artists Patricia Michaels and Ja Soon Kim. Michaels is a forerunner in the fashion industry for practicing cultural sustainability, drawing inspiration from nature and her Native American culture, which is deeply rooted in New Mexico. Born and raised in Seoul, Korea, Ja Soon Kim is a photographer, painter, and award-winning art director who now resides in Santa Fe, and focuses on capturing intricately arranged aspects of nature. The Aimee LaCalle team wandered with Kim through the whitewashed rocks of Plaza Blanca and explored Taos Pueblo with Michaels, walking alongside the vital waters of the Rio Grande, and trekking the trails of Diablo Canyon.

Inspired by the region’s striking landscape, culture and architecture, the Santa Fe collection’s design motifs — Paseo, Aspen, Pueblo, Zia, Artesano, Chamisa, Eagle, Dragonfly and Antler — contain an array of earth tones, and intricate, yet serene, arrangements. All Aimee LaCalle textiles are produced on 100% heavy-weight cotton and each order is custom-made, printed and stitched.

Born into a family with diverse European heritage in Louisiana, LaCalle grew to understand the importance of embracing one’s own complex culture — as well as others. From an early age, she envisioned a more expansive world. Driven by a curiosity to design the life she wanted, combined with a deep appreciation for artistry and craftsmanship, LaCalle and her family lived for extensive periods in various locations around the world. Today, leading her design team in its Santa Fe headquarters and on location, she’s positioned the studio at the cutting edge of technological innovation with its design-driven engineered prints. Prior to becoming the lead visionary for the Aimee LaCalle design studio, LaCalle spent years as an entrepreneur co-founding ventures in the e-commerce and education technology fields. She and her family have developed strong ties to Northern New Mexico, Southwest France and Central Mexico, but continue to spend a considerable amount of time traveling.
