37th Annual “Connecticut Flower & Garden Show” Coming February 22-25, 2018 to Connecticut Convention Center in Hartford


HARTFORD, Conn., Dec. 04, 2017 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- One of the largest and most prestigious flower shows in New England, the 37th annual “Connecticut Flower & Garden Show” will bloom on Thursday, February 22 through Sunday, February 25, 2018 at the Connecticut Convention Center on 100 Columbus Blvd. in Hartford. Hours: Thursday, Feb. 22 from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.; Friday, Feb. 23 from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.; Saturday, Feb. 24 from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.; Sunday, Feb. 25 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Themed “Breath of Spring”, the show features creative and practical ideas for house, apartment and condo dwellers alike.

Highlights include:
- Gardens in full bloom by professional landscape designers and nonprofits: naturalistic, low maintenance, native, organic, herb and pollinator gardens. Featured: “Butterfly Encounter” interactive walk-through exhibit.

- Federated Garden Clubs of Connecticut’s 2018 Advanced Standard Flower Show: a design, horticulture, botanical arts and photography competition.

- Over 300 booths of shopping - artisans, handcrafted gifts, flowers, plants, ornaments, herbs, bulbs, seeds, fertilizers, soils, books, patio furniture, lawn/garden tools and equipment.

- More than 80 hours of seminars by experts included in general admission including:

  • Craig LeHoullier, Garden Writers Association Gold Award winner, author of Epic Tomatoes and Growing Vegetables in Straw Bales;
  • Stephanie Cohen a/k/a The Perennial Diva, gardening designer and author;
  • Doug Tallamy, author, professor and chair of the Department of Entomology and Wildlife Ecology at University of Delaware, focuses on ways that insects interact with plants, animals and ecology;
  • Nancy DuBrule-Clemente, horticulturist & owner of Connecticut’s Natureworks Horticultural Services organic garden center, landscape design, consultation, installation and maintenance service;
  • Len Giddix, garden guri, former mushroom grower, co-host of radio’s Garden Talk;
  • Tovah Martin, horticulturalist, author, freelance writer, photo stylist; and
  • Charlie Nardozzi, gardening author, garden coach, radio & TV show host.
