“2017 has been a banner year for Datos IO with multiple industry awards, significant customer acquisition across Fortune 500 enterprises, and critical partnerships with channel partners and cloud providers.  We welcome someone of Rick’s caliber, as we enter a phase of hyper-growth rapidly acquiring new customers across numerous industries and expanding our channel and partner go-to-market activities,” said Tarun Thakur, co-founder and CEO of Datos IO. “With Rick’s enviable experience at driving the adoption of enterprise backup, recovery, and data management solutions, he will play a critical role in helping rapidly scale our sales organization to meet the demands of companies looking to modernize their backup and recovery solutions with application-centric data management products.”

Reporting to Tarun, Rick is responsible for all aspects of sales including expanding the sales team, day-to-day sales execution, customer relationships, and the development of results-based sales strategies. He brings a wealth of experience in data protection and cloud data management and has an established track record of working with enterprises customers. Prior to joining Datos IO, Rick served as vice president of sales for Druva where he consistently closed the company’s largest customers and strategic partnerships. In his career, he also held executive sales roles at Data Domain, where he helped accelerate its post IPO success into a $5 billion data protection division of EMC, and at Dell where he increased sales of data center infrastructure technology to $300 million in less than three years. He also worked at venture-backed ElasticBox (acquired by CenturyLink), where he built its sales organization from the ground up. In addition to his exceptional sales experience, Rick brings a wealth of technological knowledge from his early career in engineering and data storage at United Airlines, Silicon Graphics and EMC.

“After being here for only a short time, it is obvious that Datos IO is onto something world class,” said Gouveia. “With companies rapidly moving to application-centric, cloud native applications powered by non-relational databases such as MongoDB, DataStax / Cassandra, Amazon DynamoDB, and relational databases such as MySQL, PostgreSQL, and others in the cloud, the traditional world of appliance-based and media-based data backup is no longer the answer for data management.  Like Veritas did for data center workloads, and VEEAM did for virtualized workloads, with Datos IO we are reimaging backup and recovery for modern, cloud-native applications.  I am excited to work with Tarun and the entire Datos IO team to drive RecoverX into every organization that sees its current and future business running on modern applications across multi-cloud environments.”

Company Expands Headquarters

In related news, to accommodate its growth and staff expansion, Datos IO also announced it is moving into new corporate headquarters, expanding their office space by 300%.  The larger headquarters will give the team the space they need to accommodate rapid employee growth.  In 2017, Datos IO headcount has doubled with an emphasis on sales, marketing, product development, and customer support. In just the past six months, Datos IO has also doubled their customer base, over half of which are Fortune 500 companies deployed natively in the cloud, driven 100% renewal rates, and expanded their cloud data management technology leadership most recently with the release of RecoverX 2.5 release.
