Saia LTL Freight Opens Its 6th Expansion Terminal In The Northeast During 2017

The terminal located near the heavily industrial city of Allentown enhances direct coverage in Pennsylvania

JOHNS CREEK, Ga., Dec. 12, 2017 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Saia, Inc. (NASDAQ:SAIA) announces Saia LTL Freight opens its newest terminal in Bethlehem, Pa. This is the sixth facility the company has opened in the Northeast in the last eight months.

"Our commitment to our customers, to offer more direct shipping points, is well underway,” said Ray Ramu Executive Vice President and Chief Customer Officer. “We are excited to be in Bethlehem and welcome our newest employees to the Saia family. Our success in the Northeast is a direct reflection of our management team, and the dedication of both operations & sales to providing quality service to our customers."

Beyond the growth the company has experienced this year, Saia plans on opening an additional four to five terminals in the Northeast in 2018 and is currently in varying stages of planning with respect to those locations.

In addition to new market expansion, Saia plans to invest in markets already being serviced by the company to support growth.  “While we’ll continue to expand in the Northeast, we’ll also be growing other parts of our network where larger or multiple terminals will give us enhanced service capability and market share opportunities,” Ramu explained.

With the opening of the Bethlehem terminal, Saia added nearly 30 new employees including management, office and sales staff along with dock workers and drivers.
