Introducing Mrs Robinson, Toronto’s New Cocktail Bar and Music Venue

TORONTO, Dec. 13, 2017 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- A new cocktail bar has just opened its doors on College Street and is already becoming known as one of the city’s coolest new destinations. Aptly named Mrs Robinson, this new destination will be serving up crafty cocktails and great eats while guests can sway the night away to the very best of soul, funk and disco.

Mrs Robinson officially opened to the public on December 8th and has been warmly welcomed to the city by cocktail lovers, nightlife enthusiasts and seekers of good music. It can be best described as a vibrant, cocktail-forward venue with a focus on nostalgic music that will captivate each of its guests. Of notable mention is the sophisticated bar program developed by Connor Scott of The Good Son Restaurant.

“The concept of Mrs Robinson developed from a deep appreciation of the early influences of hip-hop. Not necessarily DJ Kool Herc or Grandmaster Flash, but rather all of the influential artists before the hip-hop era – the soul, funk and disco artists from the 1960s through to the 1980s,” said Oleg Dreitser, Partner of Mrs Robinson. “If you live for music, we invite you to her house.”

From the team who brought you The Good Son, Mrs Robinson seeks to deliver a new concept to the city that hopes to become an experience in and of itself. While Mrs Robinson has not yet officially launched their kitchen, guests can expect an introduction to their take on “elevated classics” in the early new year. However, she does not bill herself as a restaurant and that is for good reason.

“We have dedicated a tremendous amount of time into perfecting each of our cocktails and hand selecting each and every one of our songs,” said Trevor Speis, Partner at Mrs. Robinson. “The only thing that’s as fresh as our cocktails is our music.”

Mrs Robinson will feature local live performances a few nights of the week, and on other evenings, guests can expect to sip along with a meticulously engineered playlist and local retro disc jockeys that will showcase the very best of Al Green, Nina Simone, Otis Redding, amongst many others.

The cocktail and music programs are further amplified by the interior design, led by local designer, Murray Duncan. From the minute you enter the space, it is hard to miss the immense attention to detail. From the conflicting yet complimentary wall patterns, to the beaded wall, velvet drapes, retro chairs and laser etched paneling - it is akin to stepping back in to the 1970s.

Mrs Robinson is proudly situated on College Street, an area of the city best known for attracting some of the top restaurants, bars, lounges and retail shops.

“College Street has always been an area that we have been drawn to simply because there is so much potential for growth with the volume of people who flock here each day and night. We think our new home positions us for success, especially if the amazing surrounding establishments are any indication,” said Dreitser.
