Datical Teams Up with Pivotal to Deliver Database Automation to Enterprises Deploying Cloud-Native Applications

Integration with Concourse helps enterprises close the DevOps data gap and release new innovations to market faster

AUSTIN, Texas, Dec. 14, 2017 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Datical, the leading provider of database release automation solutions, today announced its collaboration with Pivotal Software, Inc. on a container image for Concourse, enabling enterprises to speed their full stack cloud-native application delivery process by automating database changes alongside application changes.

Concourse is a continuous integration/continuous delivery (CI/CD) open source project sponsored by Pivotal geared for teams that practice agile development. Concourse is a popular choice among Pivotal Cloud Foundry® (PCF) users for continuous delivery because of its container-based builds, flexible integrations, and visual dashboard.

The integration between Datical and Concourse allows developers to treat database code just like application code — and increase developer productivity from a few weeks to a few hours. With this new Concourse resource, Datical and Pivotal are empowering enterprise customers to scale and deploy cloud-native applications as fast as they are developed in order to quickly deliver innovation that meets market and customer needs. Datical’s new image can be run with Concourse as part of a testing pipeline to enable application development teams to push application and database changes through the release cycle at the same time.

“Enterprises are adopting cloud-native platforms, such as PCF and microservices architectures with Spring, because they provide an easy-to-use framework for building the best cloud-native applications at scale,” said Robert Reeves, co-founder and CTO, Datical. “Yet, when it’s time to release the application, database deployments become the bottleneck. Datical complements what Pivotal is already doing by enabling development teams to deploy database changes alongside their application changes.”

“Pivotal Cloud Foundry is used by developers at the world’s largest companies, who support thousands of applications that run their multi-billion dollar businesses. And developers are more productive using Concourse to automate builds, tests and deployment of apps onto PCF,” said Nima Badiey, head of business development for Cloud Foundry at Pivotal. “Together, Pivotal and Datical bring greater velocity and automation to the deployment of cloud-native data services. This markedly helps enterprises better respond to market opportunities by launching new products and services without the legacy friction points in traditional DevOps.”

This integration comes on the heels of the Datical Partner Program launch, demonstrating the company’s continued commitment to building a diverse and collaborative DevOps ecosystem that gives customers the tools they need to deliver better, faster and more secure applications.
