Ontario Energy Association Comments on Panel to Modernize the Ontario Energy Board

TORONTO, Dec. 18, 2017 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- The Ontario Energy Association (OEA) congratulates the Ministry of Energy for launching an expert review panel to modernize the Ontario Energy Board (OEB), the province's energy regulator, so that it can best adapt for the innovation taking place in the energy sector.

The OEA is pleased that this element from its Energy Platform has been adopted by the provincial government. The OEA Energy Platform called for the government to conduct a formal review of Ontario’s regulatory framework, with stakeholders, to ensure the OEB has been given the appropriate mandate, structure, and resources to deliver an efficient regulatory system that continually adapts with a sector going through technological change and innovation.

“The OEA is pleased to see this element of its Energy Platform embraced fully by the government through the establishment of the expert review panel,” said Vince Brescia, President & CEO of the Ontario Energy Association. “The OEA looks forward to working with the panel towards its goal of delivering an action plan for regulatory modernization.”
