RiskIQ Introduces Deep & Dark Web Module in Partnership with Flashpoint

Integration will provide an end-to-end workflow for detecting and managing dark web events

SAN FRANCISCO, March 20, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- RiskIQ, the leader in Digital Threat Management, today announced a strategic integration partnership with Flashpoint, the global leader in Business Risk Intelligence (BRI). The solution will integrate Flashpoint’s Deep & Dark Web (DDW) data with RiskIQ’s External Threats product to provide an end-to-end workflow for detecting and managing dark web events, and mentions of a brand, executives, or other keywords.

The dark web specifically, which provides anonymous forums for individuals to communicate, requires specific software, configurations, and authorization to access that makes it challenging to map. Obtaining meaningful data from the dark web also requires a significant amount of tradecraft and linguistic expertise. Because of its anonymity, the dark web provides cybercriminals a place to collaborate on attack plans, discuss organizations and their employees, and stage attacks. To sufficiently protect themselves from external threats, organizations should monitor their digital presence across both the open internet, also known as the surface web, as well as the DDW.

"By combining the comprehensive surface web telemetry data RiskIQ provides with the dark and deep web visibility of Flashpoint, security teams can track threat campaigns through their entire lifecycle," said Lou Manousos, CEO, RiskIQ. "We're excited to be able to offer this unique combination to our customers."

To offer this holistic visibility, the DDW Module within RiskIQ's External Threats product now empowers customers to monitor for threat actors and campaigns targeting their organizations across both the open web and DDW.

For RiskIQ customers, mentions of their organization on the DDW will automatically create events in the External Threats platform where they already receive open web event alerts. Alerts for DDW enhance the value of the External Threats product, layering essential context making previously non-actionable information actionable. RiskIQ customers will also gain limited access to Flashpoint’s multilingual analysts for support with translating DDW discussions to help provide them more relevant context.

"The Deep & Dark Web remains a key source for critical data and intelligence pertaining to a wide range of cyber and physical threats, fraudulent activities, and malicious actors," said Chris Camacho, Chief Strategy Officer, Flashpoint. "With organizations now recognizing the need to gain visibility into threats that extend beyond traditional open web intelligence, this is a perfect time for our partnership with RiskIQ. We are very pleased to help provide even more organizations with signal rich and relevant data that has the context they need to make more informed decisions."

Flashpoint customers interested in RiskIQ’s External Threats product can contact their Customer Success representative for more information.
